What is income protection insurance?

Your education is the most important investment you’ll make. It will shape your career and probably affect every aspect of your life. Our Income protection insurance can help you protect what is most precious – you, and the investment in your education and training.

If you cannot finish your education because of an illness or injury, our income protection plan pays you a lump sum benefit to help you get a fresh start. After you have graduated, if you cannot work because of an illness or injury, your income protection insurance plan helps you maintain your lifestyle without depleting your savings, relying on your family or the welfare state for financial support by giving you a regular benefit to help replace the income you lose.

Do I need income protection insurance?

Insurance is a back-up plan and it’s always good to have a back-up plan.

Take a moment to think about what could stop you working as a dental professional – We always think something dramatic but dentistry relies on fine motor skills, more so than many other occupations. A wrist sprain may not stop you working as an accountant or a lawyer but it will affect your ability to work as a dental professional.

So, if you can’t work, then at some point, your income is likely to reduce or even stop but your bills and other financial commitments won’t. Your back-up plan means you can rest easy knowing if the worse were to happen, your income is covered and you can concentrate on your recovery, however long or short that may be.

What if you could not complete your course and start work because an injury or illness? We can also help protect the investment you have already made in your education. If can’t finish your course, you may need to reconsider your future plans. The lumpsum benefit from our plan can give you a firmer financial foundation to make a fresh start.
